When you have had a stressful day at work, the last thing you want to do is come home to an overly stressful situation. If you have children, it is a good idea to make sure that they have enough to occupy them after school or college so that their minds are full, and then they will be ready for some relaxation.

When you have had a stressful day at work, the last thing you want to do is come home to an overly stressful situation. If you have children, it is a good idea to make sure that they have enough to occupy them after school or college so that their minds are full, and then they will be ready for some relaxation.

However, if it is just you and a partner, then the destressing can be a lot easier to achieve and keep a handle on. Having someone to lean on and help get various areas sorted as well as someone of a similar mindset to talk to is a blessing.

Declutter your surroundings

Not everyone likes the idea or finds a minimalistic lifestyle comfortable; these people tend to find clutter a lot more reassuring. However, there is clutter, and then there is CLUTTER. It is important that you find a happy medium and if you are not sure where that medium is, then it is a good idea to go through your items and box up those items that you would be happy to put to one side. This way, if you find that you have over decluttered, you can bring a few special items back out for display.

If, of course, you are a committed hoarder, then you may need to be quite brutal with yourself in the first instance. But as hoarding is often done for comfort reasons, you may find it easier to store items for a while before you actually let them go.

Stop gangs loitering

If you are unfortunate enough to live in an area where the youths have nothing to do but spend their spare time loitering outside people’s houses and making a nuisance of themselves through sheer boredom, you will find that your stress levels can go through the roof. This is perfectly normal, whether it is just down to them hanging around, or whether it is due to their intimidating nature, or for any damage that they happen to be doing to either your property or that of a neighbour’s.

However, there are devices, such as the mosquito speaker, that you can buy and plug in. It will dissuade these youths from hanging around your property, without you inciting any special attention from them; in fact, the devices can be really very anonymous as they emit a high-frequency noise that youths do not like, but you won’t be able to hear.

Fill your home with music

Another good way to destress yourself at home is to fill it with music, especially calm melodies that will soothe your soul and calm your mind. It doesn’t have to be loud but can be played softly in the background.

With technology such as Alexa, finding calming music and enough of it to fill an evening is easy, and if your home technology stretches to having a multi-room audio system, you will find this very easy, and you can even have different music playing in each of the rooms if your prefer.
