I can't believe I forgot this part!!
That's what happens when I don't get my turn at the computer for three days, I guess.
Eric played for the Marauders a few years back. He was a good player with an outstanding outside shot. His brother Nick also played for us, so his folks have been fixtures in our gym for quite a while and I will miss them. Even though their boys finished playing here two or three years ago, Mike and Barb
come came to a game or two each year, for old times sake. Well, Mike, Eric and Nick all came to the tournament and Eric brought his two year old daughter, Sophie, along as well.
"Hey, you know what would be fun?" Mike said to me during warm ups. "If Sophie sings the National Anthem!"
"What?" I asked "Would she do it in front of so big a crowd?"
I've known my share of two year olds and It's been my experience that they won't do all the cute and wonderful things they do for you in front of strangers. Turns out Sophie
ain't your average two year old!
"Oh, yeah," her grand pa said "She'd knock it out." So Eric and Sophie ran down and talked to Jay and Ron, who enthusiastically endorsed the idea.
"Do you know how to use a microphone?" Jay asked her.
"Where's the mic?" she eagerly asked.
A few minutes later she did, indeed knock it out of the gym.
Check it out.The Marauders may be over, but I think I'll be seeing more of Sophie Rae!
