It's Complicated

So a few of us went and saw It's Complicated the other night.  We went to a new theater that was quite nice.  Apparently they have two VIP screens, which have bars right there in the theater.  The tickets are a bit more.  I think I'd rather smuggle my own wine in.  I don't think that would be very hard to do, I'd just never thought of it before.

The movie was okay.  Two days after the fact, Katie is telling people that it blew chunks but it wasn't that bad.  it was better than The Proposal.  There were certainly a couple of scenes that struck wrong chords and at least one that I would've rewritten completely but I enjoyed the movie.

Afterward, we went two doors down to a new restaurant.  It was 7:00 on a Tuesday night and the place was packed.  We were told it was an hour wait and there weren't even any seats at the bar.  Yep.  The Great Depression looked just like that.

I actually had to leave before we got seated, as I had promised to pick Josie and her friends up from the movie she was at.  While I was on the high way, I got a call from Ty.  His girl friend, Megan, whom we had met last summer, had missed her connection to Austin and was stranded here in town until the next afternoon.  I picked Megan up at the airport and we came back here and watched Chicago.

Jay's team won and he got home shortly after the movie ended.  He was pleasantly surprised to see Megan and we cracked a bottle of wine, watched the last half hour of First Blood and Megan and I stay up talking for about an hour after Jay went to bed.

The following morning, I dropped the van off at the service station up the block.  It was chugging.  Then I dropped Jay off at the gym and I took the Audi.  Megan and I went to Barnes and Noble so she could use a gift card she'd received (there isn't a B&N near her in Texas) and after lunch, I ran her out to the airport in plenty of time to catch her flight to Austin.

I know it was a frustrating and infuriating thing for her to miss her connection, but I enjoyed the chance to spend some time with her.

Last night I did go to Jay's game (second game in a tournament he hosted) and we won again.  Afterward, we went to the home of Tulsie, our trainer, for a nifty little get together.   I got to meet Tulsie's new wife, who is adorable and several other friends and it was a lot of fun.  We didn't stay too late; were home around 11:00 and we were so tired I think we were both out cold ten minutes after pulling into the garage.

Today dawned very cold but bright.  I sat on the porch drinking coffee and working on my needlepoint until it was time to pick up the car.

At least this time it didn't cost $500.00.  A now the car is running smooth as silk again.
