I think I got through the rest of Christmas day without traumatizing any of my kids any further.  If not, oh well, they should be used to that by now.

After my unfortunate encounter with Josie, I put on my jammies and made coffee.  I let Josie try to rouse the older kids.  She used the superior cunning born of being the youngest to trick them into getting up.  It almost backfired when Zack came up and found everyone not already in the living room but we managed to subdue him and deposit him on the couch.  Once everyone was assembled, I started handing out gifts.

It's not so easy as a few years ago, when I was very careful to be sure they all got the same number of gifts.  On the other hand, they all got what they wanted and if Katie got twice as much as the rest of them, it's because she bought it herself.  And they got a Wii, which made them all very happy but they opened the accessories first which blew the big surprise.

Then Dad made us a delicious, delux breakfast.

The kids played Wii until it was time to go see Sherlock Holmes, which we all  loved.  Even Katie enjoyed it and she wanted to see It's Complicated instead.

After the movie, we came home, gathered up the gifts for Gramma's house and headed west.

There, all the Hubbells were gathered, including several from our house last night.  We all proceeded to eat too much, drink just enough and hand out presents to everyone.  There are too many tiny kids over there to play the game.  Gramma tried that a few years ago and there was waaaay too much screaming and crying.  Despite the fact that we'd all agreed on no presents this year, everyone reneged and gave Grandma and Grandpa presents.  Which is just as well, cause they got us all presents.  Nothing big, nothing expensive but lots of fun.  Kathy had a bag full of what she called 'greed gifts' because she got such a good deal on them, but when Josie opened hers and found fuzzy socks, she declared "These are not a greed gift.  These are a good, thoughtful gift!"  Josie loves socks.

As always it was great fun to see everyone in the same place.  Billy, Tyler and Katelyn all live out of state so we don't get to see them very often at all.  Bill's girl friend, Jen was there.  I enjoyed talking to her; turns out she's almost as big an X-phile as I am.  I say 'almost' because I really don't think anyone is quite as obsessed with the show as me.  Jen just picked up a boxed set of the entire series for herself!  I'm so jealous!  Yes,  I bought each season the day it was released but it's a struggle not to buy them whenever I see them because you never know when you might need an extra set.  Seriously, if I had two sets, I would (maybe) let people borrow one.  As it is, the X Files are the only dvds I own that I won't lend out.  You want to watch them?  You watch them here.
Owning a brand new full set is a great excuse to start over and watch it all again.  Like I need an excuse.

Right now I need to save my money to buy the original Star Trek.  Zack asked me this morning "Do you like Star Trek?"  I said I did.  "Then go buy it already and get it off our netflix list.  We have forty titles in our queue and over half of them are Star Trek!"

He's a little grumpy cuz he pulled a muscle playing Wii tennis.

Saturday morning, after shoveling everything again (we've gotten eight inches of snow and two inches of sleet since Wednesday night, as though God were rebutting Copenhagen with everything he's got short of plague and famine.  Oh wait, I forgot swine flu and Africa. God knows that if He tried hail that ignites when it lands, Al Gore would claim it was acid rain) Jay, Ty, Josie and I went to the Burlington Coat Factory where I used my 20% off coupon to get Josie the Calvin Klein pea coat she wanted.  It looks so good on her, all I could think was 'That's why Calvin Klein is Calvin Klein."  Then we went to Bunny's for brunch.  Zack hadn't come with us but we brought him home some biscuits and gravy.

Jay made lamb stew for dinner and it was perfect.  Then he went to see the Timberwolves play the Wizards because Flip was there.   Josie and I finally got around to watching Night at the Museum.

Now it's Sunday and I'm feeling less like I need to lapse into a coma.  In fact, I may go upstairs and work a little.  It's been five days since I've held a paint brush in my hand and that's just unnatural for me.

Ty's heading back to Texas today.

I think we have time for one more game of Scrabble.

WHAT?! Everyone gave mom and dad presents anyway?? uuuugggh. So I give mom a really expensive vacuum that no one chips in for, but you put all of your names on the card and not mine, coz she didn't even know I was involved, and now AGAIN I sit out here looking like jerky mcjerkjerk, the girl who doesn't love her parents. I hate christmas.

I chipped in on the vacuum!  Don't you remember how you got your Betsy Tacy purse??  I had nothing to do with the card, however.  I blame Katie.
