Sonia Sotomayor, Supreme Court nominee;
"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."
Reach a better conclusion? At making tacos, maybe, but we're talking about applying the law here.
Oh, what, she can be horrendously racist but I can't???
Turns out, I CAN.
I would hope that a wise white woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a more racist conclusion than a Latina who hasn't lived that life.
Please, please,
please, be offended by what I've written. Then apply that same level of outrage to Ms. Sotomayor, who SAID THE EXACT SAME THING.
And don't give me any of that reverse-discrimination crap. That's a conceit invented by people who are only interested in historical revenge, not judicial even handedness.
And don't try to argue that because I don't want racism to be
a feature in our justice system that I'm trying to claim it doesn't exist.
Of course it exists. It has always existed anywhere there are people involved. So does the exhalation of CO2 and the passing of methane but we're trying to stamp those two natural occurrences out, why are we trying to codify racism?
By Ms. Sotomayor's own flawed logic, she is unqualified to sit on the Supreme Court. After all, the country was founded by white men, the founding papers were all written by white men, therefore only white men should have the experience to rule on, amend, apply or overturn decisions based on those documents.
Unless Martin Luther King was as big a hypocrite as Jessie Jackson, the actions of our first black president must have that great man spinning in his grave.
Oh, wait. I can't say that, can I? Only a black man is allowed to say such a thing in the United States of America, land of the free and home of the brave.
Since we seem Hell bent on following the examples of Europe and Canada on economic and health care issues, it's only a matter of time before we follow them in stamping out freedom of speech as well and a Supreme Court justice like Sonia Sotomayor is just the Latina to do it.
I expect it won't be long before the thought police will be banging on my door. I'll be disappeared* so as not to be able to further pollute the minds of the masses. There may be waterboarding.
Oh well.
Maybe I'll get to share a cell with
Ann.*this word refers to the Latin American habit of doing away with one's political enemies. Yep, we can learn so much from the culture of La Raza.
