break point

This morning Jay went out to get his car and we discovered our garage door was locked. It wasn't really. The doorknob had deteriorated to the degree that even when you turned it, the mechanism inside stayed latched. The door simply behaved as tho it were locked.
Both cars were of course, locked inside. Jay had to break open the back door and he removed the handle. We can now get in and out of the garage and we can still lock it; it has a deadbolt. It just doesn't have a knob anymore.
I am really sick of stuff breaking.
One of the pieces I hung on the livingroom wall just crashed to the ground. I'd decided to try 3M sticky hooks instead of nails. I didn't want to maim my gorgeous orange walls. I followed the directions but apparently my poster was too heavy for the hooks, which lasted all of two hours. Now the frame is in pieces, the glass is shattered and in the trash and the mat has a gouge in it.
But hey, the wall is sure pristine!
